Pond Plants Trees & Hedges

Native British Hedging

Our native trees and shrubs for hedgerow and woodland planting have been grown in individual cells so that they can be planted all year round unlike bare root hedging which can only be planted over winter when they are dormant.  It also means that they are quick and easy to re-plant and have the advantage of a healthy undamaged root system.  This enables them to grow away with minimum stress.
They will need to be planted as soon as possible on receipt, so if you have a particular planting day in mind, please email the details to enquiries@wildflowershop.co.uk at the time of your order.

Advice on Planting a Native Hedge

Native Hedgerow Collections

Beech

Beech
Fagus sylvatica
Native, deciduous (although leaves retained until pushed away by new spring growth) tree suitable for hedging.  It is mainly grown for its foliage which starts as a soft golden green colour in spring, then bright green in summer changing to red-brown over the winter.  Trim in late summer/early autumn to ensure the leaves are retained over winter.  Hardy and suitable for most well-drained soils (acid or alkaline) except heavy clay.   Sunny or partially shaded sites. Full grown height up to 35m; hedging 2-3m. Young trees 20-40 cms in height growing in individual cells.
